Characterizing incipient motion of low fines content soils with varying compositions, water contents, and relative densities

چکیده
Laboratory flume experiments were conducted to quantify the effects of soil characteristics on critical shear stress low fines content samples collected from Montauk shores in New York. The soils reconstituted at five different contents, ranging between 0 and 20%. These mixtures composed two initial water dry optimum moistures, relative densities, one moderate dense other dense. strength indices soils, including effective cohesion angle internal friction, measured using consolidated undrained (CU) triaxial test. initiation erosion tests was under a unidirectional steady current condition. near-bed flow velocity, onset erosion, used determine velocity for each sample. results indicate that increases with cohesion. contents demonstrate higher resistance than those optimum. density appears overshadow such denser remains relatively insensitive composition. compacted show highest against erosion. Shields parameter is modified include content, density, content.

High Accuracy Relative Motion of Spacecraft Using Linearized Time-Varying J2-Perturbed Terms
This paper presents a set of linearized equations was derived for the motion, relative to an elliptical reference orbit, of an object influenced by J2 perturbation terms. Approximate solution for simulations was used to compare these equations and the linearized keplerian equations to the exact equations. The inclusion of the linearized perturbations in the derived equations increased the high ...
متن کاملInfluence of water and sand content on adhesion of clayey soils
Clogging occurs during mechanical tunneling with a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) because of adhesion of clayey soils to the cutterhead and conveyor system. The present study examined the effects of water and sand contents on clogging in Montmorillonite clayeysoil. Testing was carried out using an adhesion test device on 28 samples with different water and sand contents to determine adhesionstress...
متن کاملRapid estimates of relative water content.
Relative water content may be accurately estimated using the ratio of tissue fresh weight to tissue turgid weight, termed here relative tissue weight. That relative water content and relative tissue weight are linearly related is demonstrated algebraically. The mean value of r(2) for grapevine (Vitis vinifera L. cv. Shiraz) leaf tissue over eight separate sampling occasions was 0.993. Similarly...

One of the goals of financial reporting is to provide the useful information in order to facilitate the decision making. Accounting information system is of high importance for the users to make specific decisions. The information should be analyzed to present the valuable information to the investors so that in this paper, the relative content and return additive with cash recovery have been a...
متن کاملWater flow and solute spreading in heterogeneous soils with spatially variable water content
Although the spatial variability of water content is expected to be significant in heterogeneous, unsaturated media, its effect on solute transport has been neglected in most stochastic analyses. In this work we develop, evaluate, and numerically verify an analytical model describing the statistical moments of water content, soil water flux, soil water velocity, and solute spreading in the unsa...
